Description

Dext-g-PEG-Hex-5-ynoate is a graft copolymer that combines dextran (Dext), polyethylene glycol (PEG), and a hex-5-ynoate group. This copolymer leverages the properties of its components-dextran for its biocompatibility and biodegradability, PEG for its hydrophilicity and ability to prolong circulation time in vivo, and hex-5-ynoate for its terminal alkyne group, which is reactive in click chemistry, particularly in the copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reactions. Dext-g-PEG-Hex-5-ynoate can be used to create drug delivery systems that release therapeutic agents in a controlled manner. The dextran backbone degrades enzymatically, while the PEG chains provide a hydrophilic environment that can modulate drug release rates. The alkyne group can be used to attach cross-linkers, further controlling the release profile.
