DOPC contributes to the fluidity and flexibility of liposomal membranes due to the presence of unsaturated acyl chains. The PEG chain increases the hydrophilicity of the liposome surface, reducing opsonization and prolonging circulation time in vivo. DSPE-mPEG2000 is often used to enhance the stealth properties of liposomes and improve their biocompatibility.
