Description

endo-BCN-PNP-carbonate is a compound containing an endo-bicyclo[6.1.0]non-4-yn-9-yl (BCN) group linked to a p-nitrophenyl (PNP) carbonate moiety. This compound is commonly used in bioconjugation chemistry, particularly in click chemistry reactions for the selective labeling and modification of biomolecules. In this structure, the PNP carbonate group serves as a protecting group, providing stability to the reactive BCN group until it is ready to undergo a click chemistry reaction. The BCN group is a strained alkyne that can rapidly react with azide-containing molecules in a copper-free azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction (known as SPAAC or strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition). endo-BCN-PNP-carbonate can be used to selectively label proteins with azide-containing molecules, such as fluorophores or affinity probes, enabling visualization or detection of the labeled proteins in biological samples. Additionally, the SPAAC reaction mediated by endo-BCN-PNP-carbonate is widely used in bioorthogonal chemistry for various applications, including metabolic labeling, imaging, and biomolecule synthesis.
