Description

Fmoc-D-Ser(tBu)-MHPA PEG-Polystyrene Resin features an MHPA (mercaptohexanoic acid) linker attached to a PEG-polystyrene backbone, which enhances the overall synthesis process. The Fmoc (9-fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl) group is used to protect the alpha-amino group of the D-serine residue during peptide synthesis. This protecting group is removed under basic conditions (typically with piperidine), allowing for stepwise addition of amino acids during peptide elongation. D-serine is the D-enantiomer of serine, differing from L-serine in its configuration around the chiral center. It is incorporated into synthetic peptides when specific stereochemistry is needed, such as in studies involving enzyme resistance, structural modifications, or unique biological interactions. The tBu group is used to protect the hydroxyl (-OH) side chain of the D-serine residue. This bulky group ensures that the hydroxyl group does not react or interfere during peptide synthesis.
