Description

Folate-PEG-Maleimide (Folic acid-PEG-Maleimide, Folate-PEG-MAL, FA-PEG-MAL) is a linear heterobifunctional PEG polymer which is reactive with thiol to form a covalent thioether bond. The folate moiety can bind strongly with folate receptor which is constantly overexpressed in a number of cancerous cells. Folate-PEG-Mal is used to conjugate anticancer drugs or therapeutic molecules to the folate ligand. The resulting bioconjugates can specifically target cancer cells that overexpress folate receptors, potentially enhancing the selectivity and efficacy of drug delivery.
