H-Thr(tBu)-Chlorotrityl Polystyrene Resin plays an essential role in the efficient and reliable assembly of peptide chains through stepwise addition of amino acids. The resin is composed of a polystyrene backbone, which is cross-linked with divinylbenzene to provide mechanical stability. This backbone is functionalized with a chlorotrityl group that serves as a linker, enabling the anchoring of the first amino acid. The initial amino acid loaded onto the resin is threonine (Thr), which is protected at the side chain by a tert-butyl (tBu) group. The tBu group is a protecting group that safeguards the hydroxyl functionality of threonine during the synthesis process, preventing unwanted side reactions.
