H4NDED (5,5′-(naphthalene-1,4-diylbis(ethyne-2,1-diyl))diisophthalic acid) is used to stabilize polymers, such as plastics and rubber, against degradation caused by UV radiation. It absorbs UV light and neutralizes free radicals, preventing polymer breakdown. It is also incorporated into paints and coatings to enhance their durability and resistance to oxidative damage, prolonging the life of the coating.
