The thiol groups on hexakis-(6-mercapto-6-deoxy)-α-cyclodextrin can be utilized in biosensing applications for the detection of biomolecules such as proteins, enzymes, DNA, and small molecules. Thiol-modified cyclodextrins can be incorporated into sensing platforms to immobilize recognition elements or signal transducers, enabling sensitive and selective detection of target analytes.
