Description

Hydroxy-PEG3-SS-PEG3-alcohol can be used in the development of drug delivery systems. The disulfide bond linker is sensitive to reducing agents such as glutathione, which is present in high concentrations inside cells. This property can be exploited for the intracellular delivery of therapeutics. By conjugating drugs to the hydroxy groups or encapsulating them within nanoparticles decorated with this compound, it is possible to achieve targeted delivery to specific cells or tissues and trigger drug release in response to intracellular reducing conditions.
