IA-PEG-FITC (Iodoacetate-PEG-Fluorescein) is a chemical compound that combines iodoacetate, polyethylene glycol (PEG), and fluorescein. Iodoacetate is known for its reactivity toward thiol groups (-SH). It forms covalent bonds with thiol-containing biomolecules, such as cysteine residues in proteins. IA-PEG-FITC can be used for thiol-specific labeling of biomolecules containing cysteine residues. This is particularly useful for site-specific labeling of proteins or peptides.
