Description

LA/SS-B Human, Biotin is a protein that is part of the ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex. This complex is involved in RNA metabolism and is associated with autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Sjögren’s syndrome. Biotinylated LA/SS-B can facilitate structural studies using techniques such as X-ray crystallography or nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Understanding the protein’s structure aids in designing targeted therapies for autoimmune diseases. Biotinylated LA/SS-B is also used in diagnostic assays (e.g., ELISA, immunoblotting) to detect autoantibodies against LA/SS-B in patient serum. Elevated levels of these antibodies are indicative of autoimmune diseases such as Sjögren’s syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
