Description

Lysine-dextran has been investigated for gene delivery applications. They can condense negatively charged nucleic acids (e.g., DNA or RNA) into nanoparticles through electrostatic interactions, protecting them from degradation and facilitating cellular uptake for gene transfection. Lysine residues contain positively charged amino groups under physiological conditions (at neutral pH), making lysine-dextran a cationic polymer.
