MA-PEG-MAL (Methacrylate-PEG-Maleimide, α-Methacryloyl-ω-maleimidyl poly(ethylene glycol)) can be used in the formation of hydrogels through radical polymerization. In the presence of a suitable initiator and crosslinker, the methacrylate groups undergo polymerization to form a three-dimensional network. The maleimide groups can react with thiol-containing molecules, facilitating thiol-maleimide crosslinking reactions to create hydrogel networks.
