Description

Mal-amido-PEG5-alkyne can be used to label proteins or peptides containing cysteine residues. The maleimide group selectively reacts with thiol groups (-SH) on cysteine residues, forming stable thioether bonds. This enables site-specific labeling of proteins or peptides with various functional groups or fluorophores via click chemistry using the alkyne group. In addition, the PEG component imparts water solubility and biocompatibility to the compound, making it suitable for drug delivery applications.
