MAL-NH-PEG-SPA (Maleimide-NH-PEG-Succinimidyl Propionate) is a versatile compound used in pharmaceutical research and development as a cross-linking agent for various biomolecules. This compound consists of three distinct functional groups: a maleimide, a succinimidyl propionate, and a polyethylene glycol (PEG) linker. The maleimide group is a reactive thiol-specific moiety that can covalently attach to sulfhydryl (-SH) groups on cysteine residues in proteins, peptides, and other biomolecules. The succinimidyl propionate group is a reactive ester that can react with primary amines (-NH2) to form stable amide bonds.
