Description

MAL-PEG-HZ (Maleimide-PEG-Hydrazide) is a compound consisting of three main components: a maleimide group, a polyethylene glycol (PEG) linker, and a hydrazide group. Maleimide is a reactive group that selectively reacts with thiol groups through a thio-Michael addition reaction. This reaction is commonly used in bioconjugation to link maleimide-functionalized molecules to thiol-containing biomolecules. The hydrazide group contains two amino groups (–NH₂) connected by a carbonyl group (–CO–). Hydrazides are known for their ability to react with aldehydes and ketones, forming hydrazone linkages.
