MAL-PEG-NH2 (Maleimide-PEG-Amine, MAL-PEG-Amine) is a linear heterobifunctional PEG reagent that is generally employed as crosslinking agents or as spacers between two different chemical entities. Maleimide Group (MAL): The maleimide functional group selectively reacts with thiol (-SH) groups, forming stable thioether bonds. The amino group is a primary amine that can react specifically with maleimide groups to form stable amide bonds. MAL-PEG-NH2 can be incorporated into biomaterials to introduce crosslinking sites, enhance stability, and enable selective functionalization.
