Description

MAL-PEG-SVA (Maleimide-PEG-Succinimidyl Valerate) is a compound with three main components: a maleimide group, a polyethylene glycol (PEG) linker, and a succinimidyl valerate group. Maleimide is a reactive group that selectively reacts with thiol groups through a thio-Michael addition reaction. This reaction is commonly used in bioconjugation to link maleimide-functionalized molecules to thiol-containing biomolecules. The succinimidyl valerate group is a reactive moiety that reacts with primary amines in a reaction known as NHS ester chemistry. This reaction forms stable amide bonds between the compound and primary amine-containing molecules.
