Description

mPEG-bALD (mPEG-Butyraldehyde, Methoxypoly(ethylene glycol) butyl aldehyde) is synthesized by attaching butyraldehyde to polyethylene glycol (PEG). Its methoxypolyaldehyde reacts with amines and the N-terminus of peptides and proteins to form imines containing C=N double bonds. Butyraldehyde reacts with hydrazides to form stable hydrazone bonds or reacts with alkoxyamines to form stable oxime bonds.
