Description

MTSEA Biotin-XX is used to modify cysteine residues in proteins. The MTSEA group reacts with cysteine sulfhydryl groups, introducing a biotin tag via the maleimide linkage. MTSEA is a sulfhydryl-reactive compound that contains a methanethiosulfonate group. This group reacts specifically with free sulfhydryl (-SH) groups of cysteine residues in proteins, forming stable thioether bonds. Biotin-XX is a variant of biotin that contains a maleimide group. The maleimide moiety reacts selectively and covalently with sulfhydryl groups (-SH), forming stable thioether bonds with cysteine residues.
