Description

N-(+)-Biotinyl-6-aminohexanoic acid has the biotin molecule attached to the amino group of 6-aminohexanoic acid through an amide bond. This modification extends the biotin molecule with a six-carbon linker ending in an amino group. Biotin-6-aminohexanoic acid is used as an affinity tag for protein purification and detection. The biotin moiety binds specifically and with high affinity to streptavidin or avidin, allowing for purification of biotinylated proteins or peptides.
