N-Biotinyl-N’-maleimido-ethylenediamine ((3aS,4S,6aR)-N-[2-(2,5-Dihydro-2,5-dioxo-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)ethyl]hexahydro-2-oxo-1H-thieno[3,4-d]imidazole-4-pentanamide) is a biotinylated reagent that combines a biotinyl group with a maleimide-functionalized ethylenediamine linker. It is valuable for protein cross-linking, labeling, purification, cellular studies, structural biology, immunoassays, and drug discovery. The biotinyl group provides high-affinity binding to avidin or streptavidin, allowing for specific detection, isolation, and purification of biotinylated molecules. The maleimide group reacts specifically with thiol groups in proteins or peptides, forming stable covalent bonds through a Michael addition reaction. This allows for precise cross-linking and labeling of molecules containing cysteine residues. The ethylenediamine linker connects the biotinyl and maleimide groups, providing flexibility and distance between them.
