Description

N-(hydroxy-PEG2)-N’-(azide-PEG3)-Cy5 consists of a hydroxy-terminated polyethylene glycol (PEG2) chain linked to a Cy5 molecule via an amide bond, and an azide-terminated polyethylene glycol (PEG3) chain linked to another part of the Cy5 molecule. The hydroxyl and azide functional groups allow for the compound to participate in click chemistry reactions, particularly copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reactions, with alkyne- or azide-containing molecules or surfaces. This property can be leveraged for the site-specific attachment of Cy5 fluorophores to biomolecules or surfaces of interest, enabling precise and controlled labeling strategies.
