Description

N3-PEG3-tBu is a molecule that consists of a polyethylene glycol (PEG) chain with three ethylene glycol units (PEG3), terminated on one end with an azide group (N3) and on the other end with a tert-butyl group (tBu). N3-PEG3-tBu can be used to modify surfaces by attaching the azide group to alkyne-functionalized surfaces. This can be useful in creating anti-fouling surfaces, improving biocompatibility, or creating surfaces with specific functional properties, such as hydrophilicity or resistance to protein adsorption. Besides, the t-butyl group can act as a protecting group in chemical synthesis, particularly in the protection of alcohols or acids. It can be easily removed under acidic conditions, allowing for controlled deprotection in multi-step synthesis.
