Description

NTA-PEG-FITC (Nitrilotriacetic Acid-PEG-Fluorescein) refers to a chemical compound that combines three key components: nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA), polyethylene glycol (PEG), and fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC). NTA is known for its ability to chelate metal ions, particularly divalent ions such as nickel (Ni2+). NTA forms stable complexes with metal ions, and this property is often exploited in affinity chromatography and protein purification. NTA-PEG-FITC can be employed in affinity chromatography for the purification of His-tagged proteins. The NTA moiety captures the protein of interest through metal-affinity interactions, and the FITC label allows for subsequent fluorescence detection. This compound can also be used for labeling proteins containing a polyhistidine (His-tag) sequence.
