Description

PCL-PNIPAAm (PNIPAAm-conjugated PCL / Polycaprolactone-b-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) / Polycaprolactone conjugated with Poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide)) is used to create a material that leverages the properties of both polymers for various applications, particularly in the fields of drug delivery, tissue engineering, and responsive materials. Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) is a thermoresponsive polymer that undergoes a reversible phase transition around its lower critical solution temperature (LCST), typically around 32°C. Below this temperature, PNIPAAm is hydrophilic and soluble in water; above this temperature, it becomes hydrophobic and forms a gel-like structure. Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a biodegradable polyester with good mechanical properties and a relatively slow degradation rate. PCL is commonly used in tissue engineering and drug delivery due to its biocompatibility and ease of processing.
