Description

PDLLA-PEG-PDLLA (Poly(D,L-lactide)-block-poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(D,L-lactide)) is employed in the development of biodegradable implants for surgical applications. These copolymers can be fabricated into implants, such as sutures, screws, plates, or meshes, which gradually degrade in vivo without causing adverse tissue reactions. The controlled degradation of PDLLA ensures that the implant maintains its mechanical integrity during the initial healing phase and gradually resorbs as new tissue forms, reducing the need for secondary removal surgeries.
