Description

PDLLA-PEG-PDLLA (Poly(D,L-lactide)-block-poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(D,L-lactide)) is investigated for non-viral gene delivery systems. The copolymers can condense and protect nucleic acids, such as plasmid DNA or small interfering RNA (siRNA), forming polyplex nanoparticles. The hydrophilic PEG blocks provide colloidal stability and minimize cytotoxicity, while the biodegradable PDLLA blocks facilitate intracellular release of encapsulated nucleic acids, enabling efficient gene transfection with reduced immunogenicity and toxicity.
