Description

PDMA-PNIPAM is a polymeric material combining two distinct polymers: Poly(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (PDMA) and Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM). PDMA is a cationic polymer with pendant dimethylaminoethyl groups. It is synthesized from the polymerization of N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA). PDMA exhibits pH-responsive behavior due to the protonation of the dimethylamino groups. It is often used for applications requiring pH sensitivity or electrostatic interactions. PNIPAM is a thermoresponsive polymer synthesized from the polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM). Its structure includes hydrophobic isopropyl groups attached to the amide backbone. PNIPAM undergoes a sharp phase transition around its lower critical solution temperature (LCST), typically around 32°C. Below this temperature, PNIPAM is hydrophilic and soluble in water; above it, it becomes hydrophobic and precipitates out.
