PE4T is used in OLEDs as an emissive layer or as part of the charge transport layers. The conjugated system of PE4T contributes to efficient light emission by providing a pathway for electron-hole recombination. Besides, PE4T can be incorporated into organic photovoltaic cells as part of the active layer or as a hole transport layer.
