Peanut Agglutinin (PNA), Biotinylated is a plant lectin derived from Arachis hypogaea (peanut) that binds specifically to certain carbohydrate structures, primarily galactose and N-acetylgalactosamine. PNA is widely used in glycoprotein and glycan analysis due to its specific carbohydrate-binding properties, making it valuable in glycobiology research. Biotion provides a strong binding site for avidin or streptavidin, facilitating various experimental applications. This combination is used to stain cells and tissues for the presence of GalNAc-containing glycoconjugates. The biotinylated PNA binds to specific carbohydrate residues, enabling visualization with streptavidin-conjugated enzymes or fluorophores.
