PEG-PNIPAM-PLys (Poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(N- isopropylacrylamide)-poly(L-lysine)) is a triblock copolymer combining polyethylene glycol (PEG), poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM), and poly(L-lysine) (PLys). This copolymer is notable for its combination of water solubility, thermal responsiveness, and potential for biomolecule interaction, making it highly useful in various biomedical applications, particularly in drug delivery, gene therapy, and smart biomaterials. NIPAM (Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)) refers to thermoresponsive polymer that undergoes a phase transition at a specific temperature, known as the lower critical solution temperature (LCST). Below the LCST, PNIPAM is hydrophilic and soluble in water; above it, PNIPAM becomes hydrophobic and precipitates out of solution. This property is useful for creating temperature-responsive systems. PLys (Poly(L-lysine)) is a polyamino acid that is positively charged at physiological pH.
