Description

PEG-PPG-PEG copolymers are non-ionic surfactants widely used for their unique amphiphilic properties. They are composed of two hydrophilic PEG blocks and a central hydrophobic PPG block. PEG-PPG-PEG copolymers are used to solubilize poorly water-soluble drugs, enhancing their bioavailability. They can encapsulate hydrophobic drugs within their micellar core, protecting the drug from degradation and controlling its release. Certain PEG-PPG-PEG copolymers exhibit thermosensitive behavior, forming gels at body temperature while remaining liquid at lower temperatures. This property is utilized in injectable drug formulations that solidify upon administration, providing sustained drug release.
