Description

PeptoBrushes (polyglutamic acid-graft-polysarcosine) typically have a structure where polysarcosine chains are grafted onto a polyglutamic acid backbone. PGA is a biocompatible and biodegradable polyamino acid. It consists of glutamic acid units linked by peptide bonds, and it has a helical structure in aqueous solutions. PGA provides functionality due to its carboxyl groups which can interact with other molecules. Polysarcosine is a synthetic polymer derived from the amino acid sarcosine. It is characterized by its flexible and hydrophilic nature, which contributes to the overall properties of the graft copolymer. The combination of hydrophilic PSar and the biocompatible PGA allows for controlled release of drugs. The polymer can encapsulate drugs and release them in a controlled manner, often triggered by environmental changes such as pH.
