Description

Photobiotin acetate salt (Biotin {3-[3-(4-azido-2-nitroanilino)-N-methylpropylamino]propylamide} acetate salt, N-(4-Azido-2-nitrophenyl)-N′-(3-biotinylaminopropyl)-N′-methyl-1,3-propanediamine acetate salt) incorporates a photoactivatable group that, when exposed to UV light, forms a reactive intermediate capable of covalently attaching to nearby biomolecules. This unique feature makes photobiotin acetate an invaluable tool for studying protein interactions, nucleic acid binding, and other molecular interactions in a spatially and temporally controlled manner. For instance, photobiotin acetate can be used to study protein-protein interactions by covalently attaching to proteins upon UV activation, allowing for the identification of binding partners in complex mixtures. It can also be used to investigate protein-DNA or protein-RNA interactions. The biotinylated nucleic acids can be captured and analyzed using streptavidin-based methods.
