Description

Plain Unsaturated 16:1 (Δ9-Trans) PC Liposomes, Lyophilized Powder can be used as carriers for antigens in vaccines, especially in formulations where membrane stability and controlled release are more important than rapid fusion with immune cells. The rigid structure can be particularly beneficial in enhancing the shelf-life of vaccine formulations or ensuring that the antigen remains stable during storage. The trans double bond in the fatty acid chain makes the hydrocarbon tail more linear, which reduces the fluidity of the membrane. This results in a more rigid, tightly packed bilayer compared to liposomes made from cis-unsaturated or saturated lipids. As a result, these liposomes have lower permeability and increased stability under certain conditions.
