PLLA-PEG-BIO (Poly(L-lactide)-block-poly(ethylene glycol)-Biotin) has been used for targeted drug delivery, surface modification, biomolecule immobilization, cell targeting, imaging, and tissue engineering applications. PLLA is widely used in medical applications such as sutures, implants, and drug delivery systems due to its excellent biocompatibility and tunable degradation rates. PLLA can undergo hydrolysis in vivo to non-toxic lactic acid, which is metabolized and excreted by the body. PEGylation, the process of attaching PEG chains to biomolecules or surfaces, can improve solubility, stability, and circulation time of biomolecules, reduce immunogenicity, and minimize non-specific interactions. Biotinylated molecules can be immobilized onto avidin/streptavidin-coated surfaces or used as probes in assays for detection and purification purposes.
