Poly(2-isopropenyl pyridine) is a type of vinyl polymer with a pyridine ring incorporated into its backbone. It exhibits good solubility in organic solvents and can form transparent films. P2IPP can also exhibit acidic behavior due to the presence of pyridine nitrogen atoms, which can be protonated. P2IPP and its derivatives have been investigated for use in ion exchange applications due to the presence of pyridine units, which can complex with metal ions. These materials have been explored for applications such as metal ion extraction, purification, and separation processes.
