Description

Poly(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) exhibits pH-responsive behavior due to the protonation and deprotonation of the amino groups along the polymer chain. In acidic environments, the ammonium groups are protonated, leading to increased water solubility and swelling of the polymer. Conversely, in alkaline conditions, the polymer becomes deprotonated, resulting in reduced water solubility and collapse of the polymer structure.
