Description

Polystyrene Sulfonic Acid comprises a backbone of polystyrene, functionalized with sulfonic acid groups, which impart unique ionic properties to the polymer. Polystyrene sulfonic acid is widely employed as an ion exchange resin in water treatment, deionization, and purification processes. The sulfonic acid groups readily exchange protons with cations in solution, enabling the removal of metal ions, hardness-causing agents, and other contaminants from water. The material’s chemical stability ensures longevity and efficiency over multiple regeneration cycles. In addition, the acidic nature of the sulfonic acid groups makes PSSA an effective catalyst in organic synthesis and industrial chemical processes.
