Poly(α-methyl styrene) is a polymer formed from the polymerization of α-methyl styrene monomers. α-methyl styrene is a derivative of styrene, where a methyl group (-CH3) is attached to the alpha position (next to the vinyl group) of the phenyl ring. Poly(α-methyl styrene) possesses unique properties compared to polystyrene due to the presence of the methyl group.
