Description

POSS-g-PCL-N3 is a hybrid nanomaterial that combines polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) as the core and polycaprolactone (PCL) chains grafted onto it, functionalized with azide groups (N3). The biodegradability of PCL makes POSS-g-PCL-N3 an excellent candidate for drug delivery systems. Drugs can be encapsulated within the PCL chains, and the azide groups can be used to attach targeting ligands or other molecules via click chemistry. The degradation of PCL in the body allows for controlled release of the encapsulated drugs. This compound can also be incorporated into other polymers to create nanocomposites with enhanced mechanical properties, thermal stability, and biodegradability. The POSS core acts as a nano-reinforcement, while the PCL chains improve compatibility with other polymer matrices.
