PtdIns-(3,4,5)-P3-biotin (sodium salt) (DOPI-3,4,5-P3-biotin / Phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-triphosphate C-8-biotin / PI(3,4,5)P3-biotin / PIP3-biotin / PIP3[3′,4′,5′]-biotin) is a specialized biochemical compound that combines phosphatidylinositol trisphosphate (PtdIns-(3,4,5)-P3) with biotin, in the form of a sodium salt. Phosphatidylinositol trisphosphate (PtdIns-(3,4,5)-P3) is a phosphoinositide signaling lipid that plays a key role in cell signaling pathways, particularly those involving regulation of cell growth, proliferation, and survival. It is generated by the phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol-(4,5)-bisphosphate (PtdIns-(4,5)-P2) by PI3-kinase enzymes. PtdIns-(3,4,5)-P3-biotin (sodium salt) can be used as a probe to study interactions between PtdIns-(3,4,5)-P3 and its binding partners, such as proteins containing pleckstrin homology (PH) domains or other phosphoinositide-binding motifs.
