PtdIns-(4,5)-P2-biotin (sodium salt) (DOPI-4,5-P2-biotin / Phosphatidylinositol-4,5-diphosphate C-8-biotin / PI(4,5)P2-biotin / PIP2[4′,5′]-biotin) is a biotinylated derivative of Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PtdIns-(4,5)-P2), a critical phosphoinositide involved in various cellular processes, including signal transduction, cytoskeletal organization, and membrane dynamics. PtdIns-(4,5)-P2 is a precursor for second messengers like inositol trisphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG), which are crucial for the regulation of various cellular processes. Biotinylated PtdIns-(4,5)-P2 is used to study these pathways in detail. Phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5-kinases (PIP5Ks) synthesize PtdIns-(4,5)-P2, and biotinylated PtdIns-(4,5)-P2 can be employed to investigate their activity and regulation.
