Short-Chain Sulfur Confined into Nitrogen-Doped Hollow Carbon Nanospheres represents an advanced material design aimed at overcoming the challenges associated with sulfur-based energy storage systems, particularly in lithium-sulfur (Li-S) and sodium-sulfur (Na-S) batteries. The key issues with traditional sulfur cathodes include the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides (LiPS), low electrical conductivity, and volume expansion during cycling. By encapsulating short-chain sulfur (Sx, typically S₂–S₄) within nitrogen-doped hollow carbon nanospheres, these challenges can be effectively mitigated, leading to enhanced electrochemical performance and prolonged cycling stability.
