Silane-PEG-Biotin (Silane-PEG-Biotin) is a biotinylation PEG polymer for surface modification via the reaction of silane with hydroxyl (OH) functional group. Silane groups are known for their ability to form strong covalent bonds with various surfaces, including glass, ceramics, metals, and silicon-based materials. Biotin is a water-soluble B-vitamin (vitamin B7) known for its strong and specific binding to avidin and streptavidin proteins. Silane-PEG-Biotin-modified nanoparticles can be used as carriers for targeted drug delivery systems. Biotin can facilitate the binding of drug-loaded nanoparticles to cells or tissues expressing avidin or streptavidin.
