Description

STEALTH Liposomal Topotecan HCl (2.0mg/mL), Lyophilized Powder holds significant potential in treating various cancers, including ovarian cancer, small cell lung cancer, and cervical cancer, as well as in overcoming drug resistance and minimizing adverse side effects. The liposomal bilayer is made of phospholipids (e.g., phosphatidylcholine) and cholesterol. These lipids form a stable, flexible membrane that can encapsulate the hydrophilic topotecan inside an aqueous core. The liposome provides a protective barrier around the drug, preventing its degradation and allowing for a more controlled release. Topotecan is a camptothecin derivative that works by inhibiting topoisomerase I, an enzyme involved in DNA replication and repair. The drug stabilizes the topoisomerase I-DNA complex, preventing the re-ligation of DNA strands, leading to DNA damage and cancer cell death.
