Description

TCO-caged hemicyanine (TCO-HCA) represents a class of bio-orthogonal reagents combining the trans-cyclooctene (TCO) with a caged hemicyanine dye. Hemicyanine dyes are a class of fluorescent dyes known for their photophysical properties, including high fluorescence quantum yields and useful absorption and emission wavelengths. They typically have a cyclic structure and can be modified to enhance their brightness or photostability. TCO-HCA can be used in fluorescence imaging to label and visualize biomolecules. The dye remains inactive (non-fluorescent) until it is uncaged by a bio-orthogonal reaction with tetrazine, allowing for precise control over when and where fluorescence is activated in biological samples.
