TCO-PEG-ApoPep-1 (Trans-cyclooctene-PEG-Apoptotic binding peptide) is designed for applications in targeted delivery, imaging, and therapeutic strategies that exploit the specific binding characteristics of ApoPep-1 to apoptotic cells. TCO is a strained cyclic alkene that is highly reactive in inverse electron demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) reactions with tetrazine. PEG is a biocompatible polymer that is often used to enhance the solubility and stability of bioconjugates. ApoPep-1 is a peptide derived from the Bcl-2 family of proteins, specifically designed to bind to apoptotic cells. It recognizes and binds to specific markers present on the surface of cells undergoing apoptosis, making it useful for targeting apoptotic cells in various biological contexts.
