Tetrakis[4-(1-imidazolyl)phenyl]methane or 1,​1′,​1”,​1”’-​(Methanetetrayltetra​-​4,​1-​phenylene)​tetrakis[1H-​imidazole] or TIPM consists of four phenyl rings (C6H4C), each substituted with an imidazole ring (NH). The central carbon (CH3) is bonded to these four groups. Imidazole rings are known for their ability to coordinate with metal ions. Tetrakis[4-(1-imidazolyl)phenyl]methane can serve as a versatile ligand in the synthesis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) or coordination polymers. These materials have applications in catalysis, sensing, and molecular recognition.
